Gather to celebrate the changing of seasons with our candlelight Winter Solstice Yoga Mala. A yoga mala is an ancient yogic tradition of doing 108 sun salutations to celebrate the change of seasons. 108 is a sacred number across many ancient practices. A mala represents the 108 beads on a japa mala necklace.
We will flow mindfully through 108 salutations, broken down into 54 Sun Salutations and 54 Moon Salutations, which usually takes about 2 hours, plus a meditation and savasana.
Participants are encouraged to take breaks, modify, and move at their own pace. It doesn't matter how many you do or if you do any at all. Join in the moving meditation and lift your spirit with the positive energy! Bring water, mat, and any items you wish you infuse.
When: Sunday, Dec. 18th 6pm-8:30pm
Where: Megan's Yoga Tribe Studio 20 sw 3rd St Lee's Summit, MO 64063
What to Bring: Mala if you have one, yoga mat, water and any other items you wish to infuse into your practice.
My yoga practice began as self-care about 15 years ago to overcome Postpartum Anxiety, and I am passionate about using Yoga, breath work, and meditation as a way to promote wellness.
When teaching, I like to balance strength and mobility with the beauty and grace of yoga asanas, and sprinkle in a little bit of playfulness. I love the adaptability of Hatha, the challenge of Yoga/Pilates Fusion, and the mindfulness of connecting body and mind to breath.
My 200 Hour Yoga Certification is from Kansas City Teacher Training’s immersive program.
When not on the mat, I enjoy being outdoors, taking walks, going on hikes, kayaking, reading, and spending time with family. My husband and I have 3 beautiful kids, 2 dogs, 1 cat, and a fish.
